Planning a wedding in the White Mountains? Not sure where to stay, where to shop, dine, play, have fun? Need ideas for your guests to do while they are here? Up until recently you could only see White Mountains TV 16 programming if you lived in the local coverage area, but station manager and videographer extraordinaire, Chris Proulx, recently launched the online version. Check it out! You may see yours truly a few times in various segments of the programming.
Lauren + Matt’s engagement took place at Nestlenook Farm February of 2009, so in preparation for their 2010 wedding at Whitney’s Inn, in Jackson, we took some fun photos “on snow” back in the chapel where Matt proposed. Nestlenook offers romantic sleigh-rides, great for popping the question, ice skating, and hot chocolate! Did I mention the outside fire pit? I can’t help but revisit these photos this year, as Nestlenook is a favorite winter setting for photos.
Not all “Elopements” are just two people. Sometimes there are witnesses, and sometimes a few extra family members. Whatever the group size, there are many ways to get out and enjoy your time while you are here. That may just entail shopping in one of our many outlet stores and sampling treats from locally owned restaurants, but if you are looking for a little adventure, put your smiles on and head over to Cranmore Mountain for a few hours of tubing! Susan, Drew and family did this for their December 2007 intimate wedding and everyone had a blast!
Another thing of course is skiing. If you know how, or even if you don’t, there are loads of resorts to go to, and all have learn to ski programs.
Happy Anniversary to Lindsey + Jason! They were married at Nestlenook 12/2008 and Lindsey was able to photograph someone else’s wedding at Nestlenook on 12/26/10! How fun she could share her love for the place she wed with another fun couple. There are tons of photo ops right on property, not to mention activities to do. Ice Skating, Sleigh-Rides, roasting marsh mellows, it’s really a one stop location for winter fun. They did open back up for winter 2009-2010 for activities only, and lets hope they do that again for 2011.
Jackson, NH, was perfect for the Christmas wedding we were looking for. And with Meghan’s knowledge of the area, eagerness to get the perfect pictures for us (which she did), and general flexibility and photography skill, we couldn’t be happier with our wedding pictures. She showcased a genuine excitement for us and gave us perfect memories of our perfect day in Jackson. – Lindsey & Jason
I was so excited when Julia told me what her goals were for her elopement. To have fun, and to get some scenic shots outside. Well, that’s a great task here in the White Mountains, so my first question was “what kind of shoes do you have and where are you willing to go?” I loved the simplicity of her sandals. They are perfect for any wedding or special occasion. It’s a shoe she can wear again (with fondness, thinking about the wedding). It’s a practical shoe that will transport you to many fun places right here in town. Cathedral Ledge, Echo Lake, winding trails, the possibilities are endless. Thank you Julia and Dave for being so enthusiastic about these fun off the path locations for photos!
One of the reasons you are on this website is because you are eloping or looking to have a laid back, small, intimate wedding for 2 (or a few more). Lets face it, you are saving some money by keeping things small… so this may be the one time you get to do something for yourself you never get to do! It can be a simple as packing a special gift basket for your room, loaded with goodies you both pick out locally here at Zeb’s General Store (or possibly you pack it before leaving your home town at a fun gourmet market). Go ahead and treat yourself :) Meg
Back in June I had the pleasure of capturing Julia and Dave’s amazing wedding. I am still wow-ing at how beautiful they both were as people both inside and out. We had so much fun exploring local spots, all within about 5 minutes from the White Mountain Hotel where the ceremony was. I think what made my time with this couple so unique and inspiring is that we got to take photos in a very natural environment… a place special to them both, the hiking trails in the White Mountains. It allows the couple time to have fun but to be more relaxed because there is no stress. How can you be stressed when playing outside? Here are a few snapshots of places that were firsts for me to photograph the post wedding photos at. I hope this inspires others reading the blog to consider some fun outdoor alternate locations like Cathedral Ledge and Echo Lake. Groom Dave was well equipped, he even had a stick of After-Bite in his pack just in case :)
No wedding is complete without taking in some of our famous breath taking scenery. One of my favorite ways to do this, and get a great thrill is the Bretton Woods Canopy Tour. You will need a few hours, but it’s worth every second!
If you have never been to the White Mountains before, there is one thing we are also known for besides our array of outdoor activities – and that is shopping! Tax free outlet shopping at it’s best! There are tons of cute boutiques in downtown North Conway with a more mom and pop personal experience. A favorite for many is Zeb’s General Store – they have the largest selection of New England specialty foods in the world! For true “outlet” shopping, there is no better place then Settler’s Green. The list of brand name stores is lengthy, so plan plenty of time to browse or buy.
A few times a year the Mount Washington Auto Road is open at 4am for sunrise tours. If you are so inclined to wed as the sun rises and touches Mount Washington, you can bet I will want to capture that on film. Give a jingle for photo and video bookings by the hour. 603-986-6234
